Twelve Indigenous Communities
In October 2020, Advanced Interactive Canada Inc. requested then Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), The Honourable Navdeep Bains, for Rural Remote Broadband System (RRBS) Licenses to unused UHF Spectrum over 10 rural and remote locations that would serve 12 Indigenous communities in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The WiDOX systems would cover over 20,000 households, including over 3,500 Indigenous households, and serve them with high-speed Internet services. These communities currently have limited or no internet connectivity.
